Australian Keyboards Player, Singer, Composer, Songwriter, Pianist,
Poet, Actor & Entertainer, ‘Extraordinaire’. |
Geoff Yule Smith began teaching himself to play the family piano at home in Killarney Heights, Sydney, Australia at the age of 14 years and immediately began composing original music.
During the following years he had a few brief periods of piano lessons with teachers, but to this day, as a professional Musician and Entertainer he is still essentially self-taught.
At 25 years of age, Geoff made his first professional public performance with vocalist, Martin King in their pop duo called Night And Day at a Chinese restaurant in Castlecrag, Sydney.
In years that followed, Geoff Yule Smith performed professionally solo at the piano or keyboard and vocals in hundreds of venues mostly around Sydney: in clubs, pubs, five-star hotels, piano bars, shopping centres, cruise ships, restaurants, wine bars, wedding receptions, corporate functions and special events and, as an aspiring Composer, he entered and won in talent contests in Australia and overseas.
In 1992 Geoff competed in the City Of Sydney Eisteddfod, performing his semi-classical piano composition ‘Circus’ in the Sydney Opera House and, in 1994 competing in the Sydney Performing Arts Challenge, he won the Highly Commended Instrumental Solo award for performing his keyboard pop composition ‘Clear New Horizons‘.
A spin-off from Geoff’s songwriting is his award-winning poetry, some of which is published in international anthologies, but the true recognition of his poetic talent came with nominations in 2 successive years for Poet Of The Year by the International Society Of Poets in U.S.A.
Whilst continuing to perform live and compose, the year 2000 saw Geoff launch Extraordinary Entertainment, a music entertainment production company which, as the administrative arm of Geoff’s own creativity, now reaches out to music-lovers all over the world.
In 2001 Geoff Yule Smith commenced his recording career with the release of his debut EP titled simply ‘Geoff Yule Smith’. 2 other EP’s of Geoff’s songs followed in 2005 with ‘We Can Change The World If We Try’ and 2006 with ‘I’m Alive !’.
In 2007, Geoff’s much-anticipated debut pop-rock Album was released titled ‘Geoff Yule Smith VOLUME 1, The Best Things In Life’, with 13 all-original Tracks and 11 Musicians, on which Geoff plays the piano and keyboards, sings lead vocals, composed the music and lyrics, and produced the Album - certainly a great achievement for his first Album CD !
After an extensive solo career, in 2003 Geoff introduced a dynamic 4-piece backing band into his live pop-rock performances and now his music continues to emerge.
An exciting and multi-faceted Musician and Entertainer, his live performances and recordings continue.
